Indigo Mothers & Others

Saturday, August 22, 1-4pm
Fábrica Courtyard
703 Pacific Ave, Santa Cruz

This class will cover the creation, care, and feeding of an organic indigo vat as well as resist techniques for creating patterns on cloth. Each student will create a working indigo “mother” The mothers will then be combined to form a vat in which to dip the cloth prepped with resist patterns. Limited to 6 participants.

Materials: Fabric and indigo will be supplied – a $5 – $10 donation to cover supplies would be appreciated. Students can bring their own  plant fiber (cotton, linen, ramie, etc) etc to dye. For best results, all fabric should be laundered without fabric softener or dryer sheets. NOTAFLOF for real – no one turned away for lack of funds.

Community care note: Class will be outdoors in the courtyard.

Description: Bring your clean, natural fiber fabric items to dip in the organic indigo dye vat. Let’s all get blue!
